Welcome To Vietnamese
Student Association
Thank you for visiting our new Internet site. My name
is Phukhanh Vu. I was a former student and I am one of
the advisors for the Vietnamese Student Association at
Orange Coast College. Currently, I am a full-time
senior network and information systems engineer with the
Information Technology department on campus. I am
proudly to sponsor this great club with this website at
http://www.vsaocc.org.
As a non-profit organization, we want to give you the
opportunity to stay in touch with our club members as
well as our advisors and officers. A new content
management system will enable us to always keep you up
to date. We are working on numbers of special offers to
you when you become a member of this great club at
Orange Coast College. Please come and join us.
The mission of the Vietnamese Student
Association at Orange Coast College are to promote
and preserve the Vietnamese culture and language in the
community and the college for staff and students; to
represent and to share the Vietnamese culture and
language both on and off campus; to assist Vietnamese
and non-Vietnamese students in gaining additional
knowledge and understanding of the long-established
culture; and to serve the community.
In past years, members of VSA have
tried to pass on the Vietnamese culture and the history
through various activities and community services, all
of which ultimately lead to our biggest production of
the year: the Annual Vietnamese Culture Night Show.
Throughout this event, we promote students to find their
cultural identity and associate with new individuals. By
participating in planning and performing cultural arts,
the students have the opportunity to deepen their
understanding of the culture and history as well as
developing leadership skills, talents, and bonds with
others.
Furthermore, the multi-cultural awareness of the show
will attract both Asian and non-Asian community members.
As one of the advisors
and program director for this event, I have been working
extremely close with all board officers and VSA members
for the past 12 years on this special occasion. I have
seen a huge improvement in providing leadership, a solid
sense of teamwork, determination, and hard work from
advisors, board officers and VSA members throughout this
event.
I have to admit that the Vietnamese Student Association
known as VSA OCC is one of the best clubs on and off
campus. One of the main reasons for its success is
leadership and teamwork. This event is known as the
best from others staged at various schools throughout
the state. As advisors, we find that it is important to
keep the show in the native language in order to
preserve it among the Vietnamese youth, the students,
and the community throughout this special event. Please
feel free to contact or email me if you have any other
questions regarding the event.
In the
meantime you can reach Phuong Thu Do, VSA President at
714-331-7829. We are looking forward to hearing from
you. You can also contact us at our e-mail address:

Best wishes and have
a great year to all!
